This is an English version of the same Japanese origami book. Tomoko Fuse as usual do excellent origami.
The book is divided into 4 chapters:
Chapter 1: Card and Letter Holders (14 models) Chapter 2: For Use and Decoration (12 models) Chapter 3: Twinkling Stars (16 models) Chapter 4: Packages (14 models)
A lot of the models in this book is 2D and thus you can fold and send as presents or send it as a self made card. The result is very attractive. Some of it looks good on a dinner table when you have guests for special occasions.
I like the spectacularly beautiful stars, boxes and presents. The stars looks attractive when they form part of a card send to a love one.
All these models looks good when used to decorating your home.

The models in this book are not too complicated, and the range
of animals featured is nice and wide. The diagramming quality is excellent,
and there are color photographs of all models.

Makoto Yamaguchi has provided a good, solid book for introducing the novice folder to the glories of unit origami, while still providing a challenge to the more experienced folder. Clear instructions are always a challenge in origami, but I have used this book from the day I bought it without frustration or boredom. Do not be deceived by the drawings and photographs: the finished products are strong and beautiful!

This is the 3rd installment of the "Viva! Origami" series.
It showcases many of the great models of the time (still great in our time!)
by Japanese and Western creators. John Montroll's work is heavily featured,
including several of his models not published anywhere else.
It's also interesting to see many variations on the same theme - in this case - crabs.
There is plenty of text, which is probably very interesting - but it's in Japanese...

Since Nicolas Terry appeared on the origami scene only a few years ago,
he has made a great contribution to the art with his excellent website, featuring the work of many designers from around the world, and now with this intriguing book of his own original creations.
Terry's models have a unique style. While being quite complex, they are far from being "dry". They have a cartoonish quality, and are very expressive and fun.
The book contains much more than diagrams. Each model comes with paper recommendations (as most of the models cannot really be folded out of plain origami paper), size ratio, even estimated folding time...
Terry describes the creative process for each model, displays its crease-pattern, and offers challenges and general "thoughts behind the folds".
The book ends with a few crease-pattern challenges with some explanatory notes.
A hidden feature in the book is a "secret code", which, once found and emailed
to the author, grants access to a secret page on his website, containing exclusive diagrams and some more treats.
I would not recommend this book to beginners, as the majority of the models are complicated to fold, and require some sculptural abilities, but advanced folders will no-doubt benefit from the fresh ideas expressed here.
