This book outlines in exhaustive details the biographies of the aces of the German Air Service, Naval Air Service, and Flanders Marine Corps. Introductory notes provide, in most cases, place and date of birth, previous military service, decorations and postwar career. But the most extraordinary achievement by the authors is in their research into the victory claims of the pilots, and especially Manfred von Richtofen. In every case, the biographies include a full list of all claims made, by date, time, location, together with the type of aircraft.

The USAAF 52nd Fighter Group enjoyed an outstanding record in World War II, but to date its story has never been told.
Activated in January 1941, it moved to England in July 1942 for an assignment with the Eighth Air Force. It flew combat missions in Spitfires to France during the summer of 1942 before being reassigned to the invasion force attacking North Africa in November 1942.
After moving to North Africa, it was assigned to the Twelfth Air Force and was again equipped with Spitfires. As part of the Twelfth Air Force, it flew combat missions in the Tunisian campaign, and during the invasion of Sicily.
In mid-1944, the 52nd was reassigned to the Fifteenth Air Force and converted to P-51 Mustangs. During the remainder of the war, it flew bomber escort and strafing missions to targets in Italy, France, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Austria, Hungary, Rumania, and Yugoslavia. For its outstanding service the Group was twice awarded the Distinguished Unit Citation.
During its long campaign, the Group destroyed more than 425 enemy aircraft in aerial combat and damaged 135 plus many more on the ground. The 52nd Fighter Group produced 21 Aces.

Night after night through six long years of war, RAF Bomber Commands squadrons pounded away at the cities of Nazi Germany in a determined effort to bring the Third Reich to its knees. Pitted against Bomber Harris's aircrews and aircraft were some of the most effective and deadly defenses the world has ever seen. For Bomber Command to launch a 'maximum effort' raid on the Ruhr by night, or a low-level strike on an enemy target in occupied Europe by day, it involved a huge amount of planning. Who decided the policy? Why, when and where were the airfields built? How was the overall command structure organized, from the Air Council down to individual squadron level? How did the RAF train its bomber crews? What aircraft did they fly and what weapons did they use? Who were their commanders and who were the men that made up the rank-and-file of the Command? How was a raid planned and once it was launched what happened? This is the first book of its kind to present such a comprehensive overview of Bomber Command's wartime organization and operations, and is fully illustrated with a fine selection of archive photographs. Surely some of the most colorful warplanes ever to see active service, the aircraft of the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force carried the samurai regard for brightly colored armor and equipment into the 20th century. The heraldic traditions of the warriors of ancient Japan found new expression as the emblems for all types of air units in the service of the Emperor. Used by flying training schools, fighter squadrons, bomber groups and, ultimately, suicide formations, all sprang from the Japanese love of symbolism and design.
Some were hundreds of years old, others existed for only a few weeks or months. Each one that can be verified from photographs is illustrated here in glorious color. This title's 100 pages of full color drawings show the emblems both by unit and by aircraft type, allowing the enthusiast to rapidly identify exactly which formation a specific aircraft may have belonged to. Numerous photos illustrate the many variations of emblems and the different aircraft types which carried them. Organizational charts give Orders of Battle in different theatres of war, ranging from Manchuria, China and Burma to the Home Islands.
