Aircraft power plant systems design methods, such as engine mount, shock absorption, fuel system, lubrication system design and analysis are stated. Necessary information about power plant internal aerodynamics, subsonic and supersonic air intakes and exhaust units is given. Wide outlook of aircraft power plant development is given. This information is minimally required for passing exam on the course «Airplane Power Plant System Designing». The book can be useful for students to carry out the course and diploma projects. Data and information appearing in this book are for educational purposes only.

An accessible, state-of-the-art introduction to the most important topics in aerospace engineering today This combined text and professional reference presents what every structural engineer needs to know about modern aircraft structures. Covering the latest developments in the field, it explores the role of commercial finite element codes in structural analysis, demonstrates the use of fracture mechanics to solve damage tolerance and durability problems in aircraft structures, and examines the penetration of composite materials into areas traditionally dominated by metals. Clear and accessible throughout, this book assumes only an introductory background in the mechanics of solids while explaining subjects typically found only in much more advanced texts. It offers ample examples, emphasizes concepts of mechanics rather than problem solving, and helps foster an in-depth understanding of the subject. Mechanics of Aircraft Structures provides concise introductions to: - Aerospace materials — advanced composites as well as metals - The concept of anisotropy in material properties and properties of fiber composites - A new approach for deriving the shear flow on thin-walled sections - Methods for calculating strain energy release rates and stress intensity factors for simple structures - Fracture mechanics topics — fatigue crack growth and fiber-reinforced composites - The concept of postbuckling of thin rods - Mechanics of composite materials and laminates. Mechanics of Aircraft Structures combines classical and state-of-the-art topics into an excellent one-semester introductory course in structural mechanics and aerospace engineering at the undergraduate or graduate level. It is also an extremely useful resource for aerospace or mechanical engineers —especially in aerospace, automotive, and defense-related industries.

The book, Soviet Transport Aircraft Since 1945 is the result of a long period of intensive research and provides a detailed study of 40 types of aircraft designed, built and flown in the former Soviet Union and worldwide by the state airline Aeroflot, between the end of World War II in 1945 through the late 1960s. “Soviet Transport Aircraft Since 1945” gives a realistic impression of the vast transport system of the former Soviet Union. As far as possible, the design history, layout, structural characteristics and service life of each type is fully reviewed. Also, because of the expanse of territory for which it is responsible, Aeroflot uses a varied fleet of aircraft, which includes short, medium and long-range turbine-propeller types, many single and twin-engine piston aircraft and a broad range of helicopters.

The S-55 was a unique aircraft with the passenger compartments in the floats and the cockpit in the wing; the two engines are mounted in tandem push/pull above the cockpit. The S-55 proved to be very reliable and airworthy, setting 14 world records for speed, altitude and distance with a payload. Three months before Lindbergh's solo Atlantic flight, and S-55 flew with stops from Italy to Rio and NY City. In 1933 Marshal Balbo led 25 S-55s to Chicago in about 48 hours. He then flew back without incident. This is the heavily illustrated reference book including color profiles and cutaway views from Delta Plastic Model Kit.
