DarkBASIC was something I wanted as much for myself as anyone else. I had done no serious marketing, no advertising, and I was still learning the ropes. I was not at all sure anyone else would give it a second glance. I did not have much money, so I used every form of free advertising I could find. Website links, search engine submissions, magazine demos, and anything else that would spread the word. The website I designed and maintained myself, the orders were processed by a shareware company, the CDs were duplicated individually and labeled by hand. It was very much a cottage industry. In the years that followed, DarkBASIC Software Ltd got bigger. I took on a commercial director, then an artist, then another project. That project took on seven more artists, two musicians, and several consultants. All the while DarkBASIC the language got bigger.
