There is no attempt to recreate Northrop Frye with the verisimilitude of the photocopying machine. Frye’s works themselves are easily accessible for those with that end in mind. Thus, the study claims to be neither definitive nor complete. It presents a Frye whose features have been pulled and twisted: not a Frye who is represented. I join the artist in this task. Following Frye’s own thoughts, this study is itself an order of words, subject to the same powers of the imagination as other works, however short-of the mark it-might be. Hence, it is both fictional and nonfictional.
