This book follows the usual "In Action" format. There is a brief history of the US tanks prior to and leading up to the M-24 Chaffee. The list is not very long....the M-2, with two machine guns, the M-3/M-5 Stuart with a 37mm cannon and the Chaffee which weighed 18 tons and carried a 75mm cannon. The Chaffee was a good tank as long as it was not used as a tank. The armor was too thin to go head to head with the German Panzers. The Chaffee served mostly in France and Germany in WW2, later in Korea. The chassis was also used for artillery and anti-aircraft vehicles. This book covers the history and development of the tank with plenty of line drawings, black and white photos and two pages of color drawings. About 1/3 of the book (15 pages) cover the artillery and AA versions. Recommended for anyone interested in building a model of the Chaffee, tank buffs and anyone that wants a quick read on a reliable, compotent vehicle.
